Cardio...

The forbidden word.

Even though the cardio section is one of the most popular in Puregym Preston,

Not many people enjoy doing it.

That's because they find it repetetive and boring.

I'd have to agree for the most part.

If you're on the cardio a couple of times a week just trying to burn calories, it can be bad.

Counting down the minutes until you hit your goal, just waiting to go home.

It can even ruin your relationship with the gym.

But I have a solution!

In fact I have 2.

Want to hear them?

Perfect

Solution number 1

Kick boxing/muay thai

You might have heard of it.

It's what you'd probably imagine.

You have boxing gloves on and you throw both punches and kicks.

And if you've ever tried it before, you'll understand when I say just how taxing it can be on your cardio!

You see, short bouts of kick boxing on pads can get your heart rate far higher than the carido machines could ever do.

And on top of that, it's really fun!

I've been doing some sort of kick boxing martial art for over 10 years now and I've had plenty of practice holding pads for both beginners and advanced practitioners.

For those of my clients who hate doing carido,

We do kick boxing pad work instead.

It works a dream!

The only issue is that if you don't have a punching bag, you'll need someone to hold the pads for you.

Thankfully, I've got a few slots available across the next week or so for you to book in for a free kick boxing pad induction session.

Solution number 2

Circuits may not be everyone's favourite thing to do in the gym,

But I can guarantee a lot of you will prefer doing a circuit over the boring treadmill.

If you're not familiar,

A circuit typically has a selection of exercises that you do back to back with a short rest in between rounds.

The reason why this works in place of cardio is a similar reason to how the pad work works.

You're using whole body movements with very little rest.

This means your muscles are under a lot of stress.

Lactic acid and other "waste products" build up and your cardiovascular system needs to work harder to clean them out.

If you've not yet given circuits a proper go, I definitely recommend you do.

In fact, you can book a free circuit induction with me here.

There are other ways to avoid doing boring cardio; cardio intervals, group competitions, etc.

But these are 2 of my favourite solutions.

Enjoy!
